Fall Updates

This fall has been a busy fall both with apps, work, and home. But I would like to take a minute and talk about what I’ve been doing with my apps. Hopefully, if you use Step It Up or Pine, you have the new updates and are enjoying them. I worked very hard over the summer to get them ready for iOS 27 and add new features too.

Step It Up now finally has workout tracking; it has integration with Apple Weather to tell you the best time of day to walk or run. It has a number of bugs that have persisted for years fixed, and I think the design really has been polished.

Pine has always been a difficult app but by far one of my most popular apps. Getting the design, features, and flow of the app right has always been tricky. This summer I really sat down and asked myself how I can make this app great and less confusing. Hopefully, with this update, you see my vision for Pine: being an all-in-one mental wellness app.

I also changed the pricing strategy for these apps. I wanted them to reflect the true value of the app and the potential they have. Step It Up is a one-time purchase because of a lot of the content you generate. You take the steps, do the workout, etc. I am simply leveraging this data to you in a concise way. Pine is an app that I am continuously working on, adding features and content. Hence why I chose to make it a subscription; honestly, I think compared to competitors, it’s a steal of a price.

Looking ahead, I plan to work on both Pine and Step It Up’s Apple Watch app; those were largely left the same this summer. Additionally, I am finalizing iScan for probably a late fall/early winter release. I’m VERY excited for what iScan can do and what this update adds.

Saving the best for last, both Pine and Step It Up will support the iPhone Duo on day one. I think both apps look great. Pine looks absolutely awesome on the iPhone Duo and in the “seated” pose I think it really will give you the ability to sit down and breathe. I’m currently developing the new version of iScan to support the iPhone Duo, so when that launches later this year it will be ready for anyone who has the Duo.

To close, I’d just like to thank all of you, the users. It’s always exciting to see people download my apps and to hear from you about ideas for the future. While this isn’t my full-time job, it’s one heck of a fun hobby. And, without you, it wouldn’t be possible. So thank you!
